Johansson reflected, “I remember my daughter; she’s 8 1/2 now. When she was 2, I was like, ‘This is great. I don’t understand what everyone’s complaining about.’ But when she was 3, I felt like I was in an emotionally volatile relationship.”
She further explained, “The intensity was remarkable. There was no logic involved. The emotional swings were huge; they could be quite arbitrary and persistent, and it was just overwhelming.” Despite the challenges of mood swings, Johansson acknowledged the wonderful aspects of parenthood.
“Welcoming a child into the world is an amazing experience,” she notes. “They’re so adorable and they just adore you it’s pure affection. Toddlers, on the other hand, tend to be a challenge; it seems like nothing you do is right, which can be difficult.”
Johansson also mentioned that her perspective on work has changed since becoming a mother. “I usually work about 15 hours a day, so if I have to take on a project that requires moving people around, it can be an adventure for the kids,” she explains.
“But they also need a sense of stability. Now that my daughters are older, I approach work differently than when I was 25. Back then, I was very career-oriented and less focused on personal growth.” Johansson shares daughter Rose with her ex-husband, former journalist Romain Dauriac, and she has a 20-month-old son named Cosmo with actor and comedian Colin Jost.
