Since becoming a mother, Kate has focused much of her work on this area, raising awareness of maternal mental health and highlighting programmes that help children get a positive start in life. In recent years, she has set up a baby centre, given talks with experts, interacted with midwives and nurses, and interacted with mothers, among other activities.

About her visit today, People reports:

While at the hospital, which delivers around 3,000 babies each year, Kate met the Jasmine Team, who support the one in five women who experience mental health issues during pregnancy and after childbirth. She learned about how the team works with local services to provide tailored care and spoke to a mother who has received support from them.

Kate also learned how staff have created a plan so that mothers can continue to work with the same midwife throughout their pregnancy. During her visit, she encouraged new mothers to prioritise their own mental and physical health. The Duchess said it's easy for mothers to think, "I don't have time" or "my baby comes first," and neglect their own health.

She spoke about the stress she and William felt when choosing a name for their baby, aware of the public expectation of the announcement. Kate humorously remarked that she still considers four-year-old Prince Louis her own child, saying, "But he's so big now. It feels like yesterday."

Kate also visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where sick or premature babies receive specialist care. She held one of the newest patients, baby Bianca, who was born prematurely at 35 weeks and is being cared for by hospital staff and her mother, Sylvia.

As mentioned earlier, the Duchess wore a bold yellow dress by Karen Millen, known for her tailoring and evening gowns. This particular dress is called the 'Eternity Dress'.
