On September 18, CNN reported that Princess Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, participated in her first public activity since completing her battle with illness. According to information from the British Royal Family, Princess Kate returned to her duties by hosting a meeting at Windsor Castle on September 17 to discuss initiatives to give children a better start in life in their first five years.

Although no additional details were provided about the event, the Princess of Wales has been focused on early childhood development for many years, which her aides have previously described as her "life's work." Last week, she gave a public update on her health, saying she was “doing everything I can to stay away from illness” and entering a “new phase of recovery filled with hope and appreciation for life”.

In a personal video message featuring moments with her family enjoying the summer in the UK, Kate expressed that the past nine months had been a real challenge. “I look forward to returning to work and taking part in more public activities in the coming months if I can,” she shared.

The Duchess began her cancer treatment in February and has only made a handful of public appearances since then. In June, she joined her family at Trooping the Colour, the annual parade of the Royal Army to mark the monarch’s official birthday, a tradition that has been maintained for more than 260 years.

A month later, Kate was given a warm welcome when she attended the Wimbledon men's singles final with her daughter, Princess Charlotte. During her treatment, the Duchess has been working from home and meeting with her team and representatives from the child development centre.

While Kate will continue to prioritise her care in the coming months, she is expected to take part in some light public engagements until the end of the year. She is also expected to attend the annual Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in London in November, which honours British soldiers.
