Named Catla, she appeared to have suffered negative experiences with humans, fueling her desire to avoid their gaze. She actively avoided eye contact. Observing this situation, Jen and her husband Ian, who volunteered at the shelter, chose to adopt Catla into their home. Initially, Catla resisted any attempts at physical contact. Realizing the challenges of working with such a shy kitten, the couple decided to bring home another kitten named Hecka. In contrast to Catla, Hecka was outgoing and craved attention, often vocalizing her needs when she felt neglected.
After introducing the two kittens, Catla's demeanor began to change for the better. The once shy Catla gradually came out of her shell, allowing Ian to hold her, at which point she began to purr, showing that she enjoyed the gentle attention. Although she was initially a little nervous about being picked up, she eventually relaxed and sometimes even fell asleep in their arms, demonstrating her growing trust.
Hecka’s outgoing nature helped ease Catla’s fears, making it easier for her to socialize with people who showed kindness and concern. Despite their contrasting personalities, the two kittens formed a strong bond, cuddling at night and playing together during the day. Ian and Jen enjoyed watching their progress.
