Volcanic eruption forces evacuation:

The Lewotobi volcano in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province has erupted, causing significant damage and forcing more than 10,000 people to evacuate. The eruption began on Sunday night, killing 10 people and injuring three others. Hundreds of homes and buildings have been destroyed by ash and lava flows.

Permanent relocation possible:

Following the devastation, Indonesia's national disaster management agency, BNPB, is considering permanently relocating thousands of people from the high-risk area. The aim is to prevent future tragedies if similar eruptions occur. BNPB chief Sarwanto has stressed the need for such a measure. Mount Lewotobi, which stands at 1,584 metres, was the source of the eruption.
